Trump Threatens To Pull Funding From Schools Teaching 1619 Project

During a press conference on September 6th, 2020, President Donald Trump stated that the Department of Education is examining the use of the New York Times Magazine's 1619 Project in schools. According to FOX news, Trump warned institutions teaching this "alternative narrative of American history" could lose federal funding.

The 1619 Project is an ongoing project developed by The New York Times Magazine in 2019 which "aims to reframe the country’s history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of [The United States'] national narrative.

What could possibly trigger Donald Trump within the 1619 project?

If the 1619 Project was to teach school children an "alternative narrative of American history", would it be a drastic change to the history taught in schools from 1619 to 2020 which were a blatant insult to the cultural values and heritage of a lot of Americans? The U.S. Department of Education has implemented numerous guidelines to state schools' curriculums in order to reinforce alternative narratives of history. In fact, the programs and curriculums taught in schools were so blatantly filled with historical negationism that the government recommended the use of the term "historical revisionism" instead of directly stating "distortion of historical records".

If teaching alternative narratives of historical records is an issue then let's talk about one of the many well known alternative narrative of American history still taught in school today: Christopher Columbus is a hero to be held in high regards for discovering the Americas, and the first European to visit the “New World.” The facts are that Christopher Columbus did not “discover” the Americas, nor was he even the first European to visit the “New World.”

What is President Trump truly afraid of?

Does Donald Trump fear that Black children may thrive from understanding where they come from and strive out of systemic racism? Does he fear that all children may grow to understand Black history and fight to put an end to the racially divisive policies they've implemented in our country?

President Trump may lie on a lot of matters, but one thing he didn't seem to lie about is his selective Christian faith. You know what the good word says: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Don't worry Donnie! No matter what you do, this next generation will not be like yours.
